Factory Default QX Ethernet Settings

The QX scanners have new sticky settings that hold through a default – like the lens selection and Ethernet settings. The only way to wipe everything is with a command. If you can't connect to the reader to send this command, One thing you could do is make a programming barcode that resets the Ethernet settings.
it will reset the ip address to 192.168.0.100 subnet 255.255.0.0 and port 1.

Scan this code to reset the QX Hawk. This information courtesy Juan Worle, Microscan

HE-40T MSQ bluetooth pin code 12345678

Microscan has a version of Code Corps much OEM'd CR2 scanner with bluetooth capabilities.

If you don't have a com port on your PC but need USB serial - you can't use the USB bluetooth modem

But you can use a third party modem such as a Belkin USB adapter.

The cleanest way I got it to work was to plug it in and allow Windows to recognize and install the drivers. Go to Device Manager and find out what Com port it gave you.

Create a quick connect code using the Microscan ESP software and the MAC address from the Belkin

Start Hyper Terminal or something at 9600,n,8,1 and the com port from device manage.
Windows will pop up saying a device wants to connect - click on it and enter pin code 12345678 and you should be good to go

QX Hawk C-mount reads codes down to 2mil

Here's a screen shot from the ESP software showing a 2mil or 2pt datamatrix. A 5mm spacer and 25mm lens are used. the QX Hawk C-mount offers the flexibility and speed where a 5+megapixel imager could read it but be very slow.

Depth of field and field of view are limited but it tears off the code at 20/second.

Autovision Cameras have internal web server

The latest version of Microscan's Autovision software includes network accessible web pages. This allows anyone on the company network to type in the camera IP address and see what the camera sees.

An overlay of the tools being used would be really helpful but this is an easy way to monitor each camera without being right there. The Vision Hawk and Vision Mini have this capability.

Micro810 PLC helps with Scanner I/O

We've had a few apps where we're retrofitting bar code readers to sheet feeding machines. There's no real way to get 1 trigger signal only when a sheet is being fed into the machine. The best signal we've found is the sheet detection sensor - but it gives a signal on both the leading and trailing edge. So you get a read then a noread.

For about $120 w/display Allen Bradley has a little Micro810 PLC that we can use to handle the extra trigger signal.

This setup will now only trigger the reader 1 time and only when a sheet is present. The usual code matching features are built into the reader. We typically use the Mini Hawk or the QX Hawk in this application. Contact us for more information.

I-PAK on a Windows Embedded device

The I-PAK has been inspecting pharma lot and expiration codes for years. Various PC solutions have been available from washdown proof to a standard PC.

eSolutions has come up with an embedded XP PC mounted into a stainless steel enclosure. It is not washdown proof.

This solution can control up to 4 I-PAK HE devices with integrated lighting
